Visit the Donkey Mill Art Center to check out this year’s annual Kona Coffee Cultural Festival Exhibit, featuring over 100 woven lauhala hats, along with community artwork reflecting Kona’s local coffee culture.

The Donkey Mill Art Center resides within a vintage coffee mill built in 1952 and steeped in the history of the Kona coffee industry.  Over the past 20 years, volunteers have dedicated countless hours to renovating mill, breathing new life into what is now a gathering place where people develop as creative, conscious, and healthy human beings through art.

An international panel of professional cupping judges use strict standards and coffee preparations as they conduct side-by-side tastings from 50+ Kona coffee farms to appraise the differences of each coffee entry. Judges will sniff, slurp and taste their way through this year’s Kona Coffee Cupping entries looking to crown two Kona coffee farms who standout with the perfect “Kona characteristic.”

Intercultural Concert with Japan’s Pop Singer Hiromistu Kagawa @ Makaeo County Pavilion

Hiromistu Kagawa,  a pop singer from Hiroshima, Japan, rose to fame as the champion of a popular singing competition, “Uta-O (King of Singers)”, a show very similar to America’s popular American Idol.

This free concert is an intercultural show with Japan that targets a young audience of teens and young adults. Music, like a smile is universal, and whether the audience can understand Japanese or not, they will appreciate this entertainer with his warm, encouraging and inspiring songs.

Food is also a popular draw, and this program will include tasting and demonstration of the popular Hiroshima-Style Okonomiyaki.
