Kona Coffee Cultural Festival Lantern Parade @ Historic Kailua Village

The Kona Coffee Cultural Festival Lantern Parade lights up Alii Drive with a glowing procession of light, music and color, culminating with a traditional Bon Dance. This year, the Lantern Parade also celebrates the Gannenmono, celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the arrival of the first group of Japanese immigrants to Hawaii. Descendants Ka’ea and Lili Lyons will serve as Grand Marshalls.

As a must-see event of the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival, this year’s theme, “Tales of Kona,” highlights the heritage of the Kona community. Come hear unique Kona stories and experience diverse forms of storytelling in Hawaii. The event will feature local music and entertainment, celebrity chef Sam Choy, kupuna talk story, specialty food vendors, community artists and cultural practitioners, hands-on family activities, pop-up exhibit, historic farmhouse and coffee mill interpretive programs, and more.

  • Admission is free. Food and merchandise available for purchase. Event parking is at the Kealakekua Ranch Center in Captain Cook. A free shuttle will provide transportation to and from the Kona Coffee Living History Farm.
