Revisiting Kealakekua Bay, Reworking the Captain Cook Monument

Featuring interventionist proposals by artists Bernice Akamine, Gaye Chan, Kaili Chun, Sean Connelly, Les Filter Feeders, Maliewai Productions, Dan Taulapapa McMullin, Lawrence Seward, and Cory Kamehanaokalā Holt Taum. Since 2018, this collaborative effort has grown through research, dialogue, and community partnerships. Together, these artists revisit an ancestral place to rework a historic monument, honor untold stories of intergenerational resistance, address scientific colonialism in the Pacific, and cultivate remediated futures.

Revisiting Kealakekua Bay, Reworking the Captain Cook Monument will be on view from August 22 – December 12, 2026. Our open hours are Wed – Sat from 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM.

Entry is $10 festival button for those over the age of 12.  Registration is required to participate.  Visit https://donkeymillartcenter.org/event/?event=7024 to register.
